HASHOMER HACAIR EGYESÜLET

HASHOMER HACAIR EGYESÜLET (HASHOMER HATZAIR ASSOCIATION – SHOMER) is a Hungarian non-profit organization focused on youth mobilization and education. It is the Hungarian member of Hashomer Hatzair, an international Jewish youth movement that was founded more than 100 years ago as a Jewish scouting organization in the early 20th century and gained historical fame for its extensive and successful humanitarian service during the horrors of the Holocaust. Today it is active in more than 20 countries on 4 continents, with the main goal of teaching the next generation solidarity and activism alongside Judaism, and providing a community experience, not only for those under 18, but also for young adults. Shomer is an important pillar of the Hungarian Jewish community and is very active in youth education. It has extensive experience in peer-guided learning and leadership training, in using playful, child-centered teaching methods, in the application of child psychology and communication, and in practicing group formation and Jewish education.

Shomer’s task in the ExHis program is to organize the Hungarian Peer trainings.
