AZ ÉLET MENETE ALAPÍTVÁNY

AZ ÉLET MENETE ALAPÍTVÁNY – March of the Living Hungary Foundation (MOTLHU), is a Hungarian NGO focusing on educating children and adults about the Holocaust.

The core mission of MOTL HU rests on three pillars – remembrance, research, and education. MOTLHU is a member of the International March of the Living, which is an international annual educational program bringing individuals from around the world to Auschwitz-Birkenau on Holocaust Remembrance Day.

MOTLHU also organizes a local March of the Living in Budapest every year on the occasion of the National Holocaust Remembrance Day in Hungary. This is the biggest peaceful, civil demonstration in Hungary and one of the largest in Europe against racism and anti-Semitism. The commemoration usually counts close to 10.000 participants, representing all religions and political backgrounds, silently marching together and remembering the victims of the Holocaust as well as the Righteous Among the Nations. The event is widely covered by national as well as international media. Every year MOTLHU also organizes programs to bring students to the Mauthausen, Ravensbrück, and Ponary camps and to several Holocaust memorials around Hungary.

The research leg of MOTLHU focuses on conducting local history research, including identifying Holocaust victims and documenting their stories from local communities and researching rescuers who were active in Hungary during the Shoah.

In the ExHis Program EMOTL is the leader of the consortium and the coordinator of activities.
